Summary

A talented modder has released a new mod forFallout: New Vegas, which massively improves the game’s companion system. The companions inFallout: New Vegaswere already a key part of the game’s experience, and now it has just got even better.

SinceFallout: New Vegas' launch back in 2010, the game has cultivated a dedicated modding scene that aims to massively improve Obsidian’s iconic RPG. From graphics mods that make it feel like a modern title, toFallout: New Vegastotal conversion modsthat turn it into an entirely new game, there’s something everyone can enjoy here. Released onNexus Modsby creator Craftian, the mod is simply titled “Party Banter.” This adds 200 new lines of dialogue in total for thecompanions ofFallout: New Vegas, created by splicing existing dialogue lines together without the use of AI, which is a controversial matter at the moment. These lines of dialogue are banter between each companion, making them feel more authentic while adventuring together. Importantly, sinceFallout: New Vegasonly allows for one companion in a party at a time, players will also need to use a multiple-follower mod for “Party Banter” to work correctly, although there are plenty of those mods out there.

Fallout: New Vegas Mod Adds Companion Banter

The companions are generally considered to be one of the best parts ofFallout: New Vegas. The likes of Boone, Arcade Gannon, and Veronica all have their own unique stories that unravel as they explore more with the player. It’s hard to think how they could be even better, but Craftian has certainly achieved this with their mod. It has been interesting to see how companions have changed over the years thanks to mods, with one creator evenadding a brand-new companion called Rosa toFallout: New Vegas.

It remains to be seen if Obsidian will ever return to theFalloutfranchise. Even ifFallout: New Vegas 2seems like a pipe dream now, Bethesda’s current slate being filled byThe Elder Scrolls 6, combined with the popularity of theFalloutTV series, means the studio could look to a third party to ensure the franchise remains in the public eye. However, Obsidian is extremely busy too, with work continuing onAvowedandThe Outer Worlds2, making anyFalloutreturn unlikely at this point in time.
