Summary
GOG has recently confirmed that the upcomingFallout 4modFallout: Londonwill not be playable with a copy bought on the Epic Games Store. This is the latest of several issues suffered by the high-profileFallout 4mod, which will create a DLC-sizedFalloutadventure set in the English capital.
Revealed back in 2021,Fallout: Londonis currently being developed by Team FOLON, a non-profit modding group. After previous delays, the mod was supposed to come out in April 2024, but it was delayed after Bethesda’sFallout 4next-gen updates broke it. This was not the only issue faced by the modders, though, as the mod’s files were too big to be hosted on Nexus Mods, which prompted the team to decide on aFallout: Londonrelease on GOG.

Now,Fallout: Londonis finally nearing its official release, but aGOG representative recently told VG247that gamers who boughtFallout 4on the Epic Games Store won’t be able to install the mod. This limitation is linked toBethesda’s recentFallout 4updates, which are incompatible with the mod’s current build. According to the GOG representative, the mod will require a downgradedFallout 4copy. GOG currently allows gamers to roll back updates, and a workaround is “currently in progress” regarding Steam. Because of this,Fallout: Londonwill only work with copies from both GOG and Steam.
Fallout: London Players Will Need Fallout 4 From Either GOG or Steam To Install Mod
Team FOLON has also previously indicated that it will not updateFallout: Londonto be compatible with the current version ofFallout 4in the future. While this news may be disappointing for fans who own the EGS version ofFallout 4, it’s understandable considering that the project is run by a non-profit group and was almost complete when the update broke it.
WhileFallout: Londonstill has no official release date, it should be available “soon,” according to Team FOLON. The mod is essentially complete at this point and is currently waiting for the “final green light” from GOG. Hopefully, some way to play the game using the EGS version could be added soon, but there’s no guarantee that it will happen.
Unfortunately, gamers who only ownFallout 4on consoles are in the same boat as the ones who have on the EGS. A few months ago, it was revealed thatconsole players won’t have access toFallout: London, as the mod will be around 30-40 GB in size, much bigger than what’s currently supported on consoles.
