Summary
In late 2023,Fallout 76teased an upcoming map expansion that will take players into the Shenandoah National Park region of Appalachia. While a map expansion on its own is something thatFallout 76’s community has been requesting for a while now, there may be more to this upcoming expansion that fans should get excited about.
Very little has been communicated so far about what exactly thisnew expansion forFallout 76will entail leading into the new year, including a specific name, although the expansion is said to be released sometime in 2024. The only concrete thing that’s been revealed about this expansion is a teaser image, which notably appears to be hinting that certain cut content will finally be coming toFallout 76.

Where Will Fallout 76’s 2024 Map Expansion Fit Into the Current Game?
It’s said that the upcoming expansion will be accessible throughthe Ash Heap region ofFallout 76’s map, which is located in the Southwest. Players can identify this region on the map by its dark features, as it is thematically covered in a thick layer of ash.
While it’s only currently a theory among the game’s community, certain elements suggest that this expansion will be tying in existing content fromFallout 76. Ever sinceFallout 76’s first Atlantic City update was released, there has been speculation about another upcoming change toFallout 76’s map, which may well be related to the Shenandoah National Park expansion. Specifically, some of thenew locations added inFallout 76’s Atlantic City updateappear to be hinting that an underground network of tunnels will soon be uncovered and available for players to explore.
The reason why these tunnels might be connected to the upcoming expansion is because these previously caved-in passages are the creation ofFallout 76’s mole miners. Coincidentally, mole miners are one of the main occupants of the Ash Heap region where the upcoming expansion will be located. Beyond this, another coincidence also points to this expansion possibly reviving content that was originally cut fromFallout 76.
Fallout 76’s Vault 63 Cut Content Explained
Why Vault 63 May Appear in Fallout 76
One of the most notable landmarks in the teaser image fromFallout 76’s upcoming map expansion is the door to one of theFalloutfranchise’s famous Vaults, specifically, Vault 63. It’s possible that Vault 63 appearing in the teaser image from the upcoming expansion could indicate where the upcoming expansion will fit intoFallout 76’s existing map. However, since this particular location is cut content, the door of this Vault being featured in the teaser image can be interpreted as meaning that this Vault will be relevant in the upcoming expansion.
Vault 63 is currently a location that can be discovered inFallout 76, but the Vault door is sealed shut with no legitimate way to explore the inside. This Vault was originally planned to be a site for one of theVault Raids inFallout 76, but the development of this location was seemingly never finished before Vault Raids were removed from the game altogether. Consequently, the interior of Vault 63 was never released before the location was ultimately cut from the game.
Since Vault 63 has remained a landmark onFallout 76’s map despite being cut content suggests that it will eventually be revived in a future update. Given the recent evidence that seems to support this theory, Vault 63 may finally be opening at some point in the Shenandoah National Park expansion.
