As for this week’s offerings,Defense Grid: The Awakeningis a tower-defense game that originally launched back in 2008. Players have to defend a base against a horde of invading aliens, using an arsenal of different fortifications to keep them at bay. Each weapon type comes with its own benefits and drawbacks, while players will have to consider placement heavily for the best chance at putting down their foes.Defense Grid: The Awakeninghas been part of the Epic Games Store’s free drops before, so some regular visitors to the storefront might already find it in their libraries.

Verdun,on the other hand, is an authentic WW1 military shooter which first hit screens in 2015. The title sees players fight in massive online battles, using historically accurate weaponry to take the fight to their opponents. Developer M2H’s goal is to immerse players inan accurate WW1 experience, replicating everything from the soldiers' uniforms to actual battlefields in France and Belgium.

In terms of what’s coming next week,Mothergunshipis an intense bullet-hell first-person shooter, tasking players with crafting their own weapons and blasting their way through an army of robotic aliens. The game supports co-op, allowing players to blast their way through the extraterrestrial threat together, while it also has randomized environments, meaning no two playthroughs will ever be the same.

Finally,Train Sim World 2will be a big get forfans of the simulator genre, offering them the most recent iteration of theTrain Sim Worldseries. As the title suggests, players will get to drive an array of trains, whether that’s with the objective of lugging cargo between two points or taking passengers to their destinations. The game implements several features its predecessors didn’t, including new trains, a Livery Designer, and a Scenario Planner.
