OneElden Ringplayer managed to defeat the fire-resistant boss Mohg, Lord of Blood utilizing pyromancy. InElden Ring, it is mostly possible to take on practically any boss with any build, some just may take more time to die than others, like when aplayer went up against the Elden Beast with just a torch. As every boss type is different, each has specific damage types they are weak to, and those that they are not just strong, but immune to. While most players work around these and try to take down the boss using their average build, or make one that’s specific to their weakness, some players like to go against that, and try to beat them with their immunity.
Mohg, Lord of Blood is an optionalElden Ringboss that players come across after getting through the Mohgwyn Palace. Just like any boss inElden Ring, he can be a challenge against any player, so long asMohg doesn’t get stuck in a corner. His weaknesses include Physical and Gravity attacks, as well as, surprisingly, Bleed. However, he is heavily resistant to Fire, Frostbite, Scarlet Rot, and Poison.

However, it was fire that did him in as one player was determined to kill the Lord of Blood using one of the damage types he’s resistant to. Posting to r/Eldenring, user felix uploaded a video of them taking on Mohg. Whileplayers have been able to take out Mohg with 3 Comet Azurs, this player is fighting Mohg with pyromancy. In the clip, it shows the player using a single fire spell for what seems to be most of the fight, a pyromancy spell called Catch Flame, casting it again and again, avoiding his attacks or healing out of damage, until he falls.
Catch Flame is the starting equipment forElden Ring’s Prophet Class, making it a rather basic form of the magic, with a very limited range. Despite this, and despite how long the fight took, this player managed to defeat Mohg using this basic-level fire spell. That, along with Mohg’s resistance to fire making the damage lesser, makes this entire fight impressive to see, as many in the comments have also said.
As is apparent, players inElden Ringwant to challenge themselves, not just by playing the difficult game itself, but by limiting themselves as well. Countless times have there been stories of players fighting the game’s hardest bossMalenia at rune level 1 with weapons like the unupgraded Vulgar Milita Saw. Despite the game’s inherent difficulty, there is room for new players to grow and build themselves, so they could take on the hardest challenges the game has to throw at them. All they need to do is keep pushing, as the player did in this instance.
Elden Ringis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
