A trailer for the Nintendo Switch port ofDragon Ball Z: Kakarotwas shown during Nintendo’s E3 Direct. While much of the trailer recapped theDragon Ball Zstory arcs featured in the game, the ending did confirm that the first two pieces ofDragon Ball Z: KakarotDLC, titled “A New Power Awakens,” would be included in the game. However, it seems likethe Trunks - The Warrior of Hope DLCwill not be part of the package, though that is understandable as the DLC only just released on June 11. The trailer also revealed that the port ofDragon Ball Z: Kakarotwould be released on September 24.
The main game ofDragon Ball Z: Kakarotis full of nostalgia, and it does a great job of bringing the world ofDragon Ball Zto life. The game is even broken up into episodic story sections, which could work well with Nintendo Switch’s portability. Players can treat the game like watching the anime by playing an episode a time on the go. Though, players that choose to do that should be aware that some episodes take longer to complete than others. Also, the “A New Power Awakens” DLC is both entertaining and disappointing, though they give players new power-ups and items to speed up leveling up.
One concern is thatDragon Ball Z: Kakarothad performance issues on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, both of which are more powerful than the Nintendo Switch. In the trailer,Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotalready looks to be running sluggishly on Switch as the game is dropping frame fairly often. Still, the more people that can play a game, the better, and Bandai Namco has managed to port big games to the Switch in the past. When the game was released, many wondered if aSwitch port ofDragon Ball Z: Kakarotwas possible, and the answer looks to be yes.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotis available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and will land on Nintendo Switch on September 24.
