Summary

The Haunted Mansion is one of the most iconic attractions at theDisneyparks, with each park around the world having their own unique version of the ride.Disneyland California, however, takes it one step further each year for the holiday season, transforming the classic Haunted Mansion into Haunted Mansion Holiday, featuring characters and scenes from the beloved Halloween filmNightmare Before Christmas.Although the Haunted Mansion has been closed for construction since January this year, recent rumors indicate Haunted Mansion Holiday may be reopening this weekend, several weeks earlier than expected.

The Haunted Mansion Holiday takes place at Disneyland each year during the Halloween and Christmas season, overlaying the original attraction from roughly August to late January or early February. Unfortunately, this means that the original version of the ride is only available to guests for a little less than half the year. Last year, it was announced that Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion would be closed for much of this year to undergo construction to expand the existing queue and improve immersion throughout the Mansion’s courtyard area. In addition, rumors have indicated that the Haunted Mansion may be changing some of the effects inside the ride, includingremoving the controversial hanging man effectat the beginning of the attraction.

However, other recent rumors seem to indicate that the Haunted Mansion may reopen sometime this weekend, providing guests their first holiday experience at Disneyland. According to a report byDisneyland News Today, the Haunted Mansion Holiday could open as early as this weekend, starting July 26. The ride closed in January while still in its holiday mode, and although Disney has not confirmed or addressed this rumor yet, it has previously announced that the ride would be open by the time Halloween season and Oogie Boogie Bash starts on August 23. This will be the earliest that the Halloween season has started at Disneyland.

Haunted Mansion Could Reopen As Early As This Weekend

However, the July 26 date is just a rumor, and until Disney has announced or confirmed an actual date, the reopening status could change at any time. Last month, Disney did announce that the attraction would bereopening only via a virtual queue system, requiring guests to utilize the Genie+ system to try and secure a return time for the attraction rather than using the still-closed standby queue. This will be the latest addition to the park’s virtual queue system, which was first introduced with the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in 2019.

If Haunted Mansion Holiday does open this weekend, it would coincide with another exciting offering coming to the Disneyland Resort on July 26. Earlier this week, Disney announced thatDeadpool would be joining Avengers Campusat Disneyland California and Disneyland Paris for a limited time ahead of the release ofDeadpool & Wolverine. If the rumors are true, it could be a very exciting weekend at Disneyland, but take the possible Haunted Mansion reopening with a grain of salt.
