How to Get Old Keys
Players can find Old Keys in barrels located around the island. Some of these barrels are above ground, but most are buried, meaning that players will need to get their hands on a metal detector to find them.
How to Get a Metal Detector in Dinkum
Players can purchase a metal detector to locate old keys underground at the local Shop. Tounlock the Shop inDinkum, players will need to befriend the owner, John. After becoming friends, he will talk to Fletch about a Shop Deed. Fletch is the first island resident and manages the town’s commercial buildings, licenses, and house renovations.
Players can apply for building deeds without having to pay upfront. However, this puts the town in debt, so only one deed at a time can be bought. With this in mind, players should plan to pay off the town debt before moving forward. Once the Shop is set up, they’ll be able to purchase a metal detector for 6,600 Dinks.

How to Find Old Keys in Dinkum
The barrels around the island sometimes contain Old Keys. Barrels are mainly found buried, but a few are above ground. Players can open them by hitting them using a tool or weapon such as a big hammer or pickaxe. To increase the chances of finding an Old Key, they should apply for anexcavation license and buy a shovel.
Fletch accepts Permit Points for licenses, so players should make sure to complete Milestones like harvesting, picking up seashells, and other tasks while on the island to earn Permit Points. The excavation license costs 500 Permit Points, and, once acquired, players can purchase a shovel for 900 Dinks.

The metal detector shows players where to dig to potentially find barrels. To use it, they’ll need to select the metal detector and left-click and hold to activate it. The detector will start beeping whenever there is something underground, and the ground will light up. Once the light is big and the beeping is at its loudest, players will know exactly where to start shoveling.
After finding a dig spot, it’s time to select the shovel and right-click to dig. Players can dig up barrels, electronics, or vehicle parts. Old Keys rarely spawn, so players will have to treasure hunt for as long as possible to find lots of them. With this in mind, it’s a good idea tokeep food on handto replenish stamina when needed.
Where to Use Old Keys in Dinkum
Old Keys are not used anywhere obvious, so players must explore to find them.
Access the Mines
The keys are used in the Mines. To get into the Mines, the following things are required:
Because it is so costly to go into the Mines, players should ensure to be prepared for any predators that could cause them to pass out and drop any valuables bycrafting weapons and taking foodfor health and stamina before using the Mine Pass.
Find the Treasure Room
Old Keys are used to unlock the Treasure Room hidden in the Mines. Unfortunately, exploring the Mines is not a walk in the park as they are home tomany ofDinkum’s animalswho will attack players on sight, like bats, crocos, and bush devils. If the player passes out, they will spawn back in the elevator, but their health bar will be significantly drained each time.
The Treasure Room can be identified by finding a brick wall that differs from the rock-like exterior throughout the Mine. It is a perfect circle, so to find the entrance to the Treasure Room, players can follow along the wall until a door is visible. On the map, it will be a circle with a rectangular jut on one end.
A minimum of 2 Old Keys are needed to enter the Treasure Room. To get inside, players will need to select the key and right-click to use it on the door. There could be a bush devil in the room, so they should expect a fight. They will also find a chest that contains hard-to-find items and materials.
