Following the disastrous launch of Season 1, Blizzard found itself in a rough spot asDiablo 4’s popularity declined drastically. Several community members complained about the lack of content in the game, which led to a drop in the game’s player count, to the point where players were farming PvP areas with ease, as there was hardly anyone else playing the game. To rectify this, Blizzard ensured that Season of Blood had an abundance of content for players, and made several changes based on community feedback. Consequently, this led to a positive reception for Season 2, where players got 5 new endgame bosses, along with a new storyline and abilities. Now, a mid-season update has made some more changes to the game.
Diablo 4 update adds 5 class-specific Uniques with Malignant Powers
Apost on Blizzard’s official blogdetailed the bug fixes, quest changes, and other updates made to Season of Blood. To begin with, the post revealed details about the 5 new class-specific Unique Malignant rings: Ring of Red Furor, Tal Rasha’s Iridescent Loop, Airidah’s Inexorable Will, Writhing Band of Trickery, and Ring of the Sacrilegious Soul. These rings possess powers fromDiablo 4Season of the Malignant, which is Blizzard’s way of taking “popular Seasonal content that resonated with players" and reintroducing it “in a way that can persist beyond the Season and into the Eternal realm.” Aside from this, the update also fixed a multitude of gameplay issues and several Season of Blood-specific bugs.
Like every live-service game, the list ofcommunity-requested changes forDiablo 4has been increasing since its launch. Blizzard has been fairly proactive in catering to such requests. However, implementing these changes takes time. Addressing this, Blizzard’s Mike Ybarra has mentioned that the players are impatient and constantly want new content, which is a difficult task for developers as they have to ensure that the game’s overall quality remains intact with every update.
In other news, Blizzard revealed ateaser for the upcomingDiablo 4:Vessel of Hatredexpansion, arriving in late 2024. This expansion will see the return of Mephisto as a villain, and will also add a new character class to the game.

Five new Unique Rings have been added to the game, one for each class. These are based on popular Malignant Powers from Season of the Malignant, and are immediately available in both Seasonal and Eternal realms.
