Summary
Diablo 4players have grown frustrated by the low amount of Platinum premium currency given out in the Season 1 battle pass, ultimately not being enough to purchase anything from the store. For many players, it has been a bittersweet week asBlizzard not only released the first season inDiablo 4, but the patch that arrived alongside has seen plenty of criticism from the community. While players seem to appreciate the new seasonal story and added content to an already packed game, the recent Season of the Malignant update has left many disappointed.
The Season 1 patch notes detailed tons of tweaks and changes, many of which didn’t seem to sit well with players who began voicing their opinions including popular streamers like Asmongold also shared their thoughts and disappointments with the update. The pushback has even reached Blizzard, who has already reverted a controversial change thatrequired specific character levels to reachDiablo 4World Tier 3 and 4. While that has pleased more than a few, another major complain from fans seem to be with the battle pass and how little premium currency it makes available.

In a new thread on theDiablo 4subReddit, a user named Caddy-Whompus revealed that theSeason 1 premium Battle Passactually doesn’t reward enough platinum currency to use inside of the in-game microtransaction store. Adding up all instances of Platinum inside the battle pass, players will be getting 666 while the lowest priced item inside theDiablo 4store costs 800. After the revelation, Caddy-Whompus sarcastically thanked Blizzard for a perfect season, “top to bottom.”
The post quickly accelerated to the top of the subReddit, with many players surprised that Blizzard would at least give the opportunity to purchase one thing out of theDiablo 4store, at least as a taste to encourage further purchases. Others were not as surprised at how stingy Blizzard was being especially when compared to the company’s other live service game,Overwatch 2. Most have even assumed that the Season 2 battle pass will cost more than 666 Platinum coins, unlike other live service games likeFortniteorCall of Dutythat give players enough currency to purchase the next battle pass if they want.
The community concerns have reached a point where Blizzard is preparing to respond. The studio set up aFireside Chat on July 21 to talk about theDiablo 4Season 1 updateas well as addressing the concerns of players. It’s clear that the level of concerns by the community is much higher than Blizzard likely anticipated based on how quickly the studio organized a session to discuss feedback.
