Xur has returned again toDestiny 2, complete with new exotic and legendary gear for players to check out for a limited time. The next major milestone for the Destiny 2 Lightfall era starts today as Fireteams and Clans are all taking part in the World First race to claim the number 1 spot in finishing the Root of Nightmares raid. Clan Elysium has claimed the last three races, and while many expect another top finish, one Destiny 2 player has even placed an interesting wagerthat puts a collection of legendary weapons on the line.
The raid will also be the first time players will really be able to put some of the newest Lightfall exotic weapons to the test including thejust released Vexcalibur glaive. However, it appears that a couple of weapons may not make the cut in time including the Winterbite exotic glaive as a bug helped it deal tremendous amounts of damage, way more than Bungie intended. The glaive was disabled while Bungie worked on a fixed.

Speaking of loot, the exotic merchant Xur has made a return to the world ofDestiny 2. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he’s brought for the weekend of August 05, 2025.

Where is Xur?
This weekend, players can find Xur in his usual spot at the Tower Hangar.
As usual, fast travel to the main Tower location and head left into the Hangar. Once there, take another left and move past the Dead Orbit section to find a metal staircase. Move up the stairs to find Xur on a platform overlooking the mountain range off in the distance.

Class Armor and Exotic Cipher
Xur’s role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary toacquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.
Xur continues to sell even more gear outside his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer.

Exotic Armor
Karnstein Armlets - Warlock gauntlets
These are a strong Warlock exotic item, that gives the player added survivability thanks to its exotic perk. Upon a melee kill, Vampire’s Caress restores a large portion of health while also continuing to restore health for a short duration afterward.
This is an item that all Warlocks should have as it’s a very strong item in PvE situations andactivities like Gambitor Blind Well where there are large groups of enemies to overcome. There are much better options for PvP players, but it can be a fun exotic to play around with otherwise. At the very least, it’s a solid pickup for newer Warlock players.

Stat Values (62 Total):
SealedAhamkara Grasps - Hunter gauntlets
The Sealed Ahamkara Grasps features the trait known as Nightmare Fuel which reloads the player’s currently equipped weapon after melee damage.
With Solar 3.0, Hunters have ways of making sure they always have ammo ready. Throwing the burning knives causes significant melee damage and each burn tick of damage will reload the equipped gun. Killing the burning enemy procs the Playing with Fire perk, which essentially recharges the melee attack giving the player a nearly unlimited supply of reloads as long as they hit and kill the target. Unfortunately, the stat roll this week is incredibly low, coming in at only 59. There are much better options out there with much stronger stats, so this is an easy pass this week.

Stat Values (59 Total):
Wormgod Caress - Titan gauntlets
The final gauntlet option this week is the Wormgod Caress for Titans. The exotic perk on this gear known as Burning Fists which increases melee damage after each melee kill.
Ultimately, Wormgod Caress isn’t top tier by any stretch of the imagination, though under the right circumstances, it can be beneficial and is worth a look for those interested. The roll, while highest this week, isn’t anything to write home about, coming in at a 63 with an above average recovery stat.

Stat Values (63 total):
Exotic Weapon
Theone-timeDestiny 2pre-order exotic Coldheartis now available with Xur. Coldheart fires a beam of cold energy thanks to its exotic perk Cold Fusion. When combined with its other perk, called Longest Winter, the beam does increased damage the longer it remains on a target.
Trace Rifles got a boost back in Season 17 and considering this is a fun weapon to use, it may be worth a look. It’s capable of eating through boss characters and better yet, there are seasonal mods that further enhance its power. For those that don’t have it, Coldheart is worth the shards this week.
Additional perks:
Since Season 16 removed the Presage and Harbinger exotic missions,Xur is also selling both Hawkmoon and Dead Man’s Tale with randomized rolls. Players should visit him each weekend as he’ll be carrying different rolls.
