Getting theVex Mythoclastrequirestrudging through the Vault of Glassbut the reward is well worth it. It acts very similarly to itsDestiny 1counterpart, featuring theTimeless MythoclastExotic Perk that allows it to fire off Fusion Rifle energy instantly at a single pull of the trigger. It also comes with a unique perkthat lets it gain weapon overcharge upon killing enemies, giving players access to an alternate fire mode that behaves more like a Linear Fusion Rifle with charged shots that inflict greater damage.

If you’ve got the unique Exotic, you’ll want the Catalyst, so here’s what it does and how you can find it.

Vex Precursor - Destiny 2 Vex Facts

Updated October 28th, 2021 by Russ Boswell:TheVex Mythoclastis a fantastic weapon in its own right but developers didn’t feel as if it was hitting as hard as it needed to. Since its introduction, the catalyst has seen a boost in its capabilities, making it even stronger and giving players access to one of the best weapons in the game should they snag the catalyst and upgrade it. To better showcase what the newVex MythoclastCatalystcan do and to give players a better look at the stats for the weapon and tips on using it, the following list has been updated.

What It Does

TheVex MythoclastCatalyst imbues the weapon with a single benefit:

Added stability can be beneficial to those that adore theVex Mythoclastfor what it is. Thanks to its “one pull, one shot” nature, theone-of-a-kind Fusion Riflewould only grow more accurate with a stability upgrade.Ignoring this Catalyst should only be considered if you’re the type of player that enjoys its alternate firing modesince it features a longer wind-up before firing. That said, it’s still beneficial no matter what mode you’re using.

How To Find It

Obtaining theVex MythoclastCatalyst requires you todive back into the Vault of Glass Raid to locate five specialized plates. Finding the plates is the easy part, because each plate will spawn a series of Oracles that must be eliminated. These Oracles work the same as the ones encountered in the Raid, with players needing to pay attention to the order in which they appear and then eliminating them in the same sequence.

It’s important to note that each plate adds an additional Oracle to the mix, making the process harder as players progress. The first plate features three Oracles to take down, the second adds an additional one (to bring the total to four), and each plate afterward will add one more.

These Oracles are also spread rather far apart in each area and it can be a headache trying to keep tabs on them all. For this reason, it’s recommended to follow a guide, similar tothis one that Luckyy 10P made.NOTE: You will need to have theVex Mythoclastequipped during and throughout the entire five-plate puzzle.

If you want to give the process a shot yourself (note that you will need a Raid team as some Oracles are too far from one another for a single person to handle), here’s a general look at the locations of each plate:

Once the fifth plate has been activated and all of the appropriate Oracles have been dealt with, in sequence, a nearby Vex Portal will open up. Making your way to this portal andtouching it will drop theVex MythoclastCatalyst(the portal will not actually teleport you anywhere).

Tips

Obtaining this Catalyst is a headache the first time around and it takes some serious teamwork to make it a reality. Attempting to get the Catalyst with a group of randoms may backfire on you and it’s best to find a group of friends or search for a group online that is entering the raid with thesole purpose of obtaining the Catalyst.

Once players get their hands on the catalyst itself, they’ll need to defeat 700 enemies to “upgrade it” and be capable of using it. Like many other weapon catalysts, this is simply a “time-consuming” task and shouldn’t be treated differently than other catalyst requirements. Finding large clusters of enemies or simply ignoring the counter and grinding for other items while using theVex Mythoclastare popular ways to unlock its abilities.

When dealing with the Oracles that spawn, make sure you dedicate teammates to cover them accordingly. It takes focus, patience, and timing to get through each puzzle and they only get harder as each plate is completed.

Advice On Using TheVex MythoclastCatalyst

TheVex Mythoclastis a powerful weapon in the right hands and can quickly melt down the health bars of even the strongest enemies. Although its alternate firing mode can dish out a painful shot after a small windup, some players may find they get much more use out of its rapid-firing mode.

But, like many weapons in Destiny 2, recoil and stability issues usually affect a player’s potential DPS, especially when they’re moving around and trying to reposition themselves to survive. TheVex MythoclastCatalysts remedies these issues quite a bit thanks to its stability upgrade, allowing players to focus their fire better and increasing their single-target DPS, and add clearing ability. Players that seek out this catalyst will suddenly find themselves with a weapon that’s capable of quickly eliminating hordes of smaller enemies while chipping away at larger foes thanks to its powerful alternate fire.

Regardless of how often players find themselves using each firing mode, grabbing the catalyst for this weapon will only make it more stable, increasing the chance that a players shots will land on target consecutively. Going full-auto will actually increase the amount of damage players can output, making it arguably more valuable than its alternate-firing mode.
