Merely nine hours later, faldo again posted on the social media site, reporting that Bungie had unbanned their account, again without any explanation.
The unban comes after several prominentDestiny 2community members and content creators supported faldo on Twitter, using their popularity as a vector to vouch for the innocence of the affected speedrunner. While unexplained, the unban has been viewed positively by a large section of the community but also raised concerns over other banned speedrunners who do not have such a support system to back their claims of innocence. Previously,bugs and glitches have caused unintentional bans inDestiny 2, which have been promptly addressed. The latest ban wave and Bungie’s subsequent silence over the issue have prompted many to speculate whether this heralds the end of speedrunning inDestiny 2.
Recent incidents ofBungie being accused of stealing art for aDestiny 2trailerand aggressively pushing microtransactions have created a divide between the studio and the community, much to the disappointment of many fans of the franchise.
