Summary
Bungie releases update 8.0.0.6 forDestiny 2, fixing various gameplay issues and nerfing popular exotic gear, as well as addressing some community concerns with the episodic activity known as Breach Executable. After months of new content with updates like Into the Light, The Final Shape expansion, and Episode Echoes, things have slowed down a bit forDestiny 2players. Following the conclusion of Act 1, players are now on a three-week break before Act 2 kicks off and continues the Nessus story.
While the time between acts will certainly help some players catch up on everything that has been released since The Final Shape, Bungie has continued to discuss how these periods of downtime will help the studio in the long run. In terms of content, game director Robbie Stevens has teased that Act 3 will featureone ofDestiny 2’s biggest exotic missions ever. The new content release cadence has given the studio enough time to work on this feature, though they made sure not to elaborate too much further. The extra downtime also gives Bungie time to address issues with the game, as evidenced by the latest update.

One of the bigger concerns players have been raising since the release ofEpisode Echoes has been with the new activity Breach Executable. Inside these arena-style activities, players can find hidden resources and materials, though the struggle for many seems to be that not only are they hard to find, but fire team members can push forward too quickly, causing everyone to be forced to warp ahead, ultimately causing the items to be missed out on. With this patch, Bungie has reduced the time to extract the resources, making them more visible from a futher distance away, and increased the roaming time before the next encounter begins.
In addition to the expected Breach Executable changes, Bungie also made thenerfs to popularDestiny 2The Final Shape exoticsofficial as well. As described in a previous weekly blog, Bungie is nerfing the Khvostov and Red Death exotic weapons, while also disabling the orb generating ability of the Speaker’s Sight, though the majority of these changes only impact the PvP side ofDestiny 2.
However, one thing that Bungie has yet to address seems to be the strange XP earning discrepancy between Warlocks and the other two classes. Players have continually reported thatWarlocks are not seeing the same XP gain forDestiny 2Ritual activities, which became really evident during the recent double XP weeks for Gambit and Vanguard. Some players have even indicated that this issue isn’t new and has been around for a few months, leaving most surprised at the lack of acknowledgment by Bungie to this point.
