Summary
Destiny 2’s Season of the Witch is halfway through its expected runtime, paving the way for Season 23 ahead of The Final Shape with massively important story beats that will likely lead to a final showdown with Xivu Arath or her being entirely missing from the expansion.Season of the Witchcame with several adjustments to the game itself, both for PvE and PvP, and recently added the Festival of the Lost event to the mix with a fresh coat of paint. While seasonal events haven’t had an entirely positive reputation inDestiny 2’s recent releases, Festival of the Lost’s 2023 edition has new features and changes that make it both more enjoyable and worth farming - even more so with a few tips.
Events likeDestiny 2’s Solstice and Guardian Gamesdidn’t get a lot of time in the limelight this year, but Festival of the Lost is slated for a much more successful run thanks to the improvements made by Bungie, possibly raising the bar for events in the game. Although the beloved Infinite Forest setting from the now vaulted Mercury seemingly remains a fan-favorite compared to Haunted Sectors, the new Festival of the Lost makes up for it by adding a new game mode, more loot, and even a unique Memento.

A “Sugar Rush” in Destiny 2’s Haunted Sectors
Anew feature ofDestiny 2’s Festival of the Lostevent is that players will gain the Amplified buff from the Arc 3.0 subclasses whenever they collect Candy in Haunted Sectors, meaning they will both go faster and have a reliable way of proccing this specific boon. Knowing this, players can plan their builds accordingly, and they can also make sure to collect some Candy to reach the Headless Ones' spawn points faster or even get out of sticky situations more easily.
An Effective Loadout to Complete Five Challenges at Once
Like with other seasonal events in the game,Festival of the Lost’s challenges inDestiny 2revolve around completing some activities or scoring kills with given weapons. This year’s version of the event adds a grenade launcher to the mix of available weapons, now encompassing also an auto rifle, pulse rifle, and sniper rifle, so Bungie added a challenge for players to defeat targets with each of these weapon types. Considering that there are also challenges for completing playlist activities and specifically either Crucible or Gambit matches, players can equip three of the four weapons and run Crucible or Gambit activities to try and complete up to five challenges at once.
Destiny 2’s New Triumph to Get a Black Memento
Players can get an all-newMemento inDestiny 2with Festival of the Lost’s Eerie Engrams, but to unlock the reward, they have to complete a secret Triumph added to the Season of the Witch tab. To do this, they’ll need a Clovis Bray Mask equipped when completing the Fallen SABRE Strike, to score 100 kills on Neomuna with the Nimbus Mask, and to perform 25 finishers in Legend Haunted Sectors with the Tormentor Mask equipped - all unlocked through this year’s challenges. This will award players with their first Lost Memento, with more to be obtained by playing.
Be Patient With Festival of the Lost Activities
Destiny 2is not a bug-free game, and sometimes players can run into serious issues that prevent them from progressing through it. Such is the case with the current iteration of Festival of the Lost, where some progress can be lost or not registered properly if players leave Haunted Sectors before the activity is fully completed, such as with the Commendations screen. Taking time to ensure everything is properly registered will make for a smoother event overall.
Destiny 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
