The game spawned two direct sequels, and a prequel, and featured a realistic take on an already-established Batman universe. Now that the iconic series has wrapped up,Rocksteady Studioshas turned its attention to making a third-person action gamefocused on the DC Comics team, the Suicide Squad.
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice Leagueis once again set in an established version of the DC universe. However, it looks like the developer is abandoning the dark aesthetic of Gotham in this game for a more chaotic feel that works for this team of criminals. While that is certainly a good idea for a game dealing with a different set of characters, it has got DC fans wondering what other characters from the comics Rocksteady should pay attention to next.
6Deathstroke
A Trained Killer And Worthy Adversary To Batman
Deathstroke is a highly trained mercenary who is adept at using a variety of guns, swords, or explosives to get his work done. The character has already made two appearances in Rocksteady’sArkham gamesand is a villain that is most like Batman. He can fight thugs in a melee scenario, or use a series of traps or ranged weapons for stealth gameplay.
The main difference between Batman and Deathstroke as video game protagonists, however, is the fact that Deathstroke is not routed in Gotham City, and he kills. His mercenary work takes him all over the globe, which means that the developer can create a superhero game that is similar to theArkham seriesin execution, but also features a wide variety of locations to explore.

The Flash is a hugely popular DC character in all forms of media. He recently had anine-season TV show,and a movie, and was one of the stars of DC’sanimatedJustice Leaguein the early 2000s. Sadly, this popularity has never translated to video games. The characters' super speed has just made it too difficult for a developer to make an engaging open-world combat game for the hero.
However, Rocksteady has already proved that they know how to create a feasible combat system for a unique character. Plus,Marvel’s Spider-Man 2for the PS5 has shown that modern consoles can easily handle really fast combat and traversal scenarios thanks to SSDs. With the character expected to appear in the upcomingSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, let’s hope the developer is able to present a version of the character that could work in a video game like this.
4Blue Beetle
A Younger Hero With Many Gadgets
The latest DC character to receive a spotlight was Blue Beetle as his first solo movie was released in 2023. The character was originally owned by Fox Comics, but there have been heroes to hold the mantle of Blue Beetle since he debuted in DC Comics. The second version of Blue Beetle was the business person, Ted Kord, who fought crime with a set of high-tech gadgets. The next Blue Beetle is a young boy called Jaime Reyes, who gained powers after an intergalactic being known as the Scarab attached itself to his spine. Using the Scarab, Reyes can fight crime as it gives him the power to create new gadgets and weapons as he needs them.
Either version of the character would work as the focus of a Rocksteady game. The combat and gadgets the Blue Beetle has access to make him very similar to Batman. Only this hero could fight crime in the city during the day.
3Wonder Woman
Part Of The DC Trinity
The three most popular and most recognizable characters in DC Comicsare easily Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. However, a lot of fans seem to want Rocksteady tofocus on Superman for a new game with the Kryptonian.While an open-world Superman game would be great, Wonder Woman is far more suited to what Rocksteady has done with the universe before.
Diana Prince is a highly durable goddess who is also a combat master. Taking the character away from Themyscira to fight the injustices of the real world could make for an interesting story. What’s more, Wonder Woman’s fighting style can make for some interesting combat scenarios. However, this seems unlikely out of the choices, as Monolith is working on their ownWonder Woman game, with little details known.
2Aquaman
DC’s Dark Horse Is Becoming Another Icon
The King of Atlantis was once seen as a joke character by a lot of comic fans. However, that perception all changed when Aquaman was given his own solo film in 2018, and it became the first movie in the DCEUto reach $1 billion. Witha sequel to this movie coming,it is safe to say that Aquaman is more popular with audiences now than he has ever been. As such, it would be wise for a game developer to capitalize on this exposure.
Aquaman did receive a solo video game back in 2003 calledAquaman: Battle For Atlantis.The game was received poorly at the time, and older consoles could not deal well with the underwater physics an Aquaman game would require. However, Rocksteady has proven they are up to this type of challenge, as shown in the off-world Scarecrow missions inBatman: Arkham Asylum. Plus, modern consoles would probably make it easier for the developer to create an open world that is situated entirely underwater.
1Green Arrow
Another Vigilante Who Needs A Spotlight
The Green Arrow was the star of his own TV show in 2012. However, thecharacter has yet to receive any more mainstream attentionsince the show ended in 2020. Oliver Queen is a billionaire who uses his money to fight crime as a vigilante just like Batman. The main difference between these two characters in the comics, though, is that Oliver Queen wants to be liked as a public figure, whereas Bruce Wayne is far more interested in his role as the Caped Crusader.
This need to be liked opens up some strong story-telling options for the Emerald Archer, and could even be a reason to include a choice-based system in the game. Outside his personality, The Green Arrow is a combat expert with a variety of gadgets on hand. All things that are the bread and butter for a developer like Rocksteady.
