Cyberpunk 2077gives off a great first impression and doesn’t let up, with the majority of quests early on building up to a monumental heist where V and their crew try and steal from the very heart of Arasaka itself. The buildup to this moment involves several ancillary missions, including one called The Information.

During this quest inCyberpunk 2077, the player must scan Yorinobu’s datapad while it’s turned on, but this can be a bit tricky because he uses the object at an unexpected moment, or sometimes, a bug makes completing this mission difficult. Of course, the latter is probably not an issue anymore with the whole host of patches thatCyberpunk 2077has enjoyed since its release.

Updated August 06, 2025, by Ritwik Mitra:Cyberpunk 2077 has quickly become a must-play game after a litany of bug fixes and updates have addressed almost all of the serious issues that prevented players from enjoying this experience to the fullest. The beginning of this game sets up an excellent conflict that remains constant for most of the experience. One of the quests, The Information, is pretty fun to get through in its own right, although some people might find one part of this mission to be slightly grating. Figuring out how to scan Yorinobu’s datapad can prove to be quite a challenge, especially if a bug crops up that prevents the datapad from even being scannable in the first place. Thankfully, the bug fixes for Cyberpunk 2077 have ensured that this glitch is pretty much a thing of the past.

A braindance in Cyberpunk 2077

How Does The Quest Start?

The Information quest tasks the player with meeting Evelyn Parker and learning the ins and outs of brain dancing with the help ofJudy Alvarez, the best braindance technician in Night City. After a tutorial, the game will allow them to dive into Evelyn’s own memory of a time she visited Yorinobu Arasaka’s apartment.

By switching between the thermal, visual, and audio layers, V must scan his apartments in braindancing’s editing mode to search for clues that will assist their hunt for information and later, the big heist. But one objective of the mission, scanning Yorinobu’s datapad, is stalling someCyberpunk 2077players.

What To Do During The Braindance Sequence

After listening in on Yorinobu’s phone conversation with his father, he will reveal that more information on the Relic can be found on Yorinobu’s datapad, giving players the new objective of scanning it “while it’s turned on.” To do this, first switch to the visual layer if not already in it.

However, do keep in mind that this datapad can’t be scanned when he’s waving it around while on the phone. Rather, players will need to fast-forward to approximately 2:45 on the timeline at the top of the screen. There should be a highlighted yellow section on the visual layer to note that there are objects available to scan.

WhileEvelyn is putting on some mood music, move over to Yorinobu’s bedroom while he’s sitting on the bed and the datapad should have a lit-up screen; it can now be scanned. There are times when scanning it too early registers it as a phone instead of a datapad, or won’t register it at all.

What To Do If A Glitch Occurs

However, some players are experiencing bugs that block them from finishing this objective, which means they won’t be able to progress inCyberpunk’s story until they are able to do so. Sometimes, a glitch will stop the datapad from rendering or appearing in the scene. Other times, the datapad won’t turn on, even when it appears that Yorinobu is using it while sitting on his bed during the correct timestamp.

But amongCyberpunk’s many game-breaking bugs, this one shouldn’t be too hard to fix. If any bugs come up that stop the quest from being finished, simply reload the last save or checkpoint. Luckily,Cyberpunk 2077looks to autosave pretty often, so players should be able to reload from the beginning of Evelyn Parker’s braindance session.

For what it’s worth, this glitch was more prevalent early on when Cyberpunk 2077 was a really bugged-out mess. In its current state, the quest should be easy to complete with little to no issues.

Cyberpunk 2077is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
