Usually,Call of Dutyfans only get one update forCall of Duty: Modern WarfareandWarzoneeach week, but Infinity Ward rolled out a surprise update over night. And while it’s not a massive update that adds new maps or anything like that, it does make big changes to both theAll or Nothing game modein standard multiplayer as well as theWarzonebattle royale.

First off, the newCall of Duty: Modern Warfareupdate changes All or Nothing by allowing parties. Previously,Call of Duty: Modern Warfareplayers could only play All or Nothing solo, so this is a pretty big change that could potentially convince more people to check out the game mode. In All or Nothing, players start the match with nothing but a throwing knife and have to scavenge for ammo by killing enemy players. It’s more of a party match type in the vein of One in the Chamber or Gun Game, so it’s nice that Infinity Ward is letting friends play together, even if it does lead to some potential cheating.

As forWarzone, the new update removes the uncommon and rare burst fire versions of theM4 assault riflefrom the loot pool. Infinity Ward did not provide an explanation as to why this was done, but it seems likely that it was a decision made to better balance the game.

Looking ahead, the next bigModern Warfareupdate will likely come on Tuesday, January 30. What it will entail exactly remains to be seen, but theSeason 4 road mapdoes give fans a pretty decent idea of what to expect.

It’s also been teased that some big balance changes are coming toModern Warfarein future, including one that will supposedlynerf the Grau. Infinity Ward has suggested that this update will come mid-season, so fans shouldn’t expect it to happen next week, but it should be available within the next month or so. The big mid-season update is also likely to add new maps, game modes, and more, so fans should stay tuned for more information on that front.

In the meantime,Warzoneupdates should still be released regularly as well, and they may be especially exciting in the coming months. Rumors have indicated that Activision plans on usingWarzoneto revealCall of Duty 2020, so fans should definitely pay close attention to the battle royale’s patch notes.
