Call of Duty Mobile, TiMi Studio’s incredibly successful mobile take on theCall of Dutyfranchise, offers one of the most diverse first-person multiplayer experiences on mobile devices. The game features standardCall of Dutyteam-based multiplayer game modes, a 100-player battle royale mode, and also for-fun modes like Prop Hunt. TiMi isn’t resting on its laurels, though.Call of Duty Mobilehas another major game mode addition now available – the competitive Tournament mode.

Tournament mode inCall of Duty Mobileis, as the name implies, where competitive players will go to test their abilities against other top players. Since Ranked Play inCall of Duty Mobileis focused on squads, Tournament is focused on individual players or duos. The five options for modes within Tournament includeGunfight, Gunfight Team Deathmatch, 2v2 Team Deathmatch, 2v2 Kill Confirmed, and Free For All.

As for how Tournament works, it’s somewhat of a misnomer. Instead of a bracket or competitive structure, each “tournament” will task players with competing in fourconsecutive matchesof the game mode they select. The goal is to win as many of those matches as possible. Depending on how many of the four matches players win, they’ll receive different tiers of rewards, with four wins granting the best rewards. There’s no indication that difficulty will go up or down depending on wins or losses.

The reason for playing Tournament is twofold, for the weekly exclusive rewards and to compete on theleaderboards. Each week will have unique rewards, acquired through getting wins and accruing Crowns. Earning enough wins and topping the Tournament Leaderboards also earns additional rewards. The top 20%, 15%, 10%, 5%, 1%, 1,000, 100, and top 3 on the Tournament Leaderboards can earn some really exciting loot. Just keep maximizing those tournament wins.

While Tournament mode may not be the kind of bracketed tournament experience someCall of Dutyplayerswould hope for, it should hopefully still be an improved competitive option over what’s currently otherwise available. Players in Tournament will be striving for wins in a way they aren’t otherwise, and will be rewarded for their efforts.

As ever, there are plenty of other game modes inCall of Duty: Mobileremaining should players not enjoy Tournament. The new competitive mode won’t be replacing anything, soCall of Duty: Mobile’s favorite modeswill be ready and waiting for players to return to if Tournament doesn’t work out. Otherwise, it should hopefully make for an interesting new experience to try out. Tournament is available now.
