Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warhas certainly had its struggles with weapon balancing. Unfortunately, the TEC-9 SMG is no different, with the gun’s ridiculous damage output turning someCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warplayers away from multiplayer.

At the start of Season 5, gamers were excited about the game’s most recent balancing pass. Specifically, Treyarch had finallynerfed the LC10 SMG, a gun that had dominated the game for several Seasons and had no noticeable weakness. However, the LC10’s nerf was something of a double-edged sword. While the most overpowered gun was brought down a peg, it was instantly replaced by the TEC-9. With no other weapon coming close, only another TEC-9 can compete with a TEC-9. As such, the gun is everywhere in multiplayer.

Much like the LC10,The TEC-9 SMGhas no downside. Everyone can easily get access to the gun by progressing through the Season 5 battle pass, and while its default variant is not too impressive, leveling up the weapon is all that is required to make it unstoppable. The burst fire variant is deadly, and once the TEC-9 becomes full auto, it obliterates anyone that steps into its path - regardless of how far away they are. As such, Redditors like stil_b11 have made lengthy posts that call the game unplayable, with the TEC-9 being the main topic of the rant.

While some players in the comments did argue against the fan’s complaints regardingthe Swiss K31 Sniper Rifle, as that gun is far more powerful inCall of Duty: Warzonethan it is inCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, most do agree on the TEC-9. All over Twitter, similar posts can be found, with gamers begging Treyarch for a nerf. Players like @CodeNameLucifer have even taken to renamingBlack Ops Cold Waras “Call of Duty: Tec-9 Spam,” showing just how far the problem has gone.

Fortunately, players can rest assured that they are getting a nerf in the near future, though there is no ETA on when exactly this nerf will be coming. Treyarch announced that it was planning to adjust the new SMG back on August 26, with the deadly weapon being reworked alongsidethe EM2 Assault Rifle. These changes will likely come via a small balancing patch, or at the latest the Season 5 Reloaded update.

While the TEC-9 SMG is undoubtedly the best gun in the game right now, at leastCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warplayersknow that its days are numbered. Still, with the changes mentioned several ago and still not coming through, the wait for a nerf might be a little bit longer.
