Breath of the Wildis full of various equipment for Link. Most armor can be upgraded, and some have effects that can resist certain temperatures. Others can increase Link’s overall power, swimming speed, or climbing speed. The Sand Boots and Snow Boots are two armor pieces that, as their names indicate, will increase Link’s mobility when walking through sand and snow respectively.

Players looking to add the Sand/Snow Boots to their inventory should make forBreath of the Wild’s Gerudo Wasteland. While these boots are not too useful on the east side of Hyrule, they’re perfect when navigating through Hebra/Tabantha and the desert provinces. Getting them shouldn’t be too difficult either, especially ifBotWplayers have traded in Spirit Orbs for Stamina Wheels. Here’s how to snap them up.

Sand Boots: The Eighth Heroine Side Quest

There are two prerequisites for these items:

To start this quest, players need to go to the border ofGerudo Townand speak to the man standing by the Shrine outside the town. If this is the player’s first time in the Gerudo Wasteland, the NPC will point Link in the direction ofKara Kara Bazaar. There’s an NPC atop the inn there who will sell Link a completeGerudo Set for 600 rupees, with which Link can disquse himself as a lady. With this, warp to theDaqo ChisayShrine.

To the left of Gerudo Town’s entrance, there are two Sand Seals. Beyond these, players can see a man doing laps around the outside of town. This is Bozai, and when Link speaks to him, he’ll brag about his own pair ofSand Boots. If players aren’t wearing the Gerudo Set, he’ll tell Link to get lost. So, verify Link is fully dressed in the Gerudo Outfit before interacting.

Bozai, just like the majority of Gerudo Town, will fall for Link’s disguise. Link can ask for the Sand Boots, and doing so will unlockThe Eighth Heroineside quest. The man will ask Link to find the statue of The Eighth Heroine and take a picturewith theCamera Rune. The picture doesn’t have to be clear, but it does need to be taken so thatthe statue is seen from bust to head. The man will lend Link the Snow Boots to help him track down the statue.

The Eighth Heroine Statue is located at the top of the Gerudo Province. The quickest way to get to her is to warp to theKema Kosassa Shrine. She’s directly north from there. However, if players do not have this Shrine warp spot unlocked, then they’re going to have to start climbing.

Players can warp back tothe Daqo Chisay Shrine, but there’s one more thing to do before leaving the Gerudo Highlands…

Snow Boots The Forgotten Sword Side Quest

Climb up theGerudo Summitand look around for a giant sword statue. This is where the Snow Boots will come in handy, but Link will also want to have cold-resistant gear, such as the Snowquill Set. Southwest on the Gerudo Summit is the Eighth Heroine’s Sword. Take out the Camera Rune and snap a good picture of it. With this taken care of, it’s time to return toGerudo Town.

Refer to the green marker on the above image for the exact location of the sword.

Be careful when wandering around the Gerudo Summit. There’s a Silver Lynel that likes to patrol near the sword.

Speak with Bozai to complete “The Eighth Heroine” and get the Sand Boots. Find him sitting under the shade, and speak to him again to get “The Forgotten Sword” sidequest. Completing this will also net Link theSnow Boots. If players managed to get a picture of the Swordwhile they were out huntingfor the Eighth Heroine Statue, then they can speak to Bozai immediately to turn in the quest. At last, Link will have both the Sand Boots and the Snow Boots.

Can The Sand Boots & Snow Boots Be Upgraded?

Yes, the Sand Boots and the Snow Boots can be upgraded. Unfortunately, they’re among the more difficult greaves to upgrade thanks to the materials needed. Link will need to unlock all four Fairy Fountains if he wants to max out the Sand Boots and Snow Boots.

There arefour Moldugain theGerudo Wasteland, which drop Molduga Guts upon defeat, As forNaydra’s Scale, this can be obtained by shooting at Naydra’s flank (not the horn, mouth, or hands/feet). However, Naydra needs to be freed of malice first. If players haven’t done so already, help Naydra at Mount Lanayru. They’ll get a free scale as a reward, but this scale is used to unlock a Hidden Shrine. Fortunately, Naydra descends from Mount Lanayru every morning, so just wait by the Lanayru Road - East Gate to farm more scales.
