Bob Odenkirk established himself as a worthy leading man of a compelling TV drama when his role as Saul Goodman was elevated from complementary comic relief inBreaking Badto the main character inBetter Call Saul. With the show wrapped up, Odenkirk took no time to express what he was going to miss most about the show.
ThoughBetter Call Sauldidn’t win any Emmys, Odenkirk was more than happy to give his own praise to the show. When asked about being around the cast ofBetter Call Saulfor the Emmys, Odenkirk revealed what he would miss the most about the show: his camaraderie with his co-stars.

While being interviewed byExtratv, Odenkirk singled outhis co-stars Rhea Seehornand Patrick Fabian, who played Kim Wexler and Howard Hamlin, respectively, for the rapport he had with them while the show was filming. “We lived together, the three of us. Me, Patrick and Rhea. We’re like old chums. We did everything together. We made dinners together. We went on hikes together. We rescued dogs, and they had puppies.” Odenkirk made it clear that his friendship with those two, in particular, is what he’ll miss most about the show. “I mean we live together. It was a great experience. Well, that’s the part that I’m gonna miss the most.”
If you check out their individual social media pages, like Twitter and Instagram, theBetter Call Saulcast definitely had a strong rapport with one another while filming the show. Various cast members posted pictures of them doing multiple activities with each other, which demonstrates how much they enjoyed working with one another on the show. Having a cast that likes being together can actually benefit a show lot because it makes for a healthy work environment. Everyone knows of the stories of TV or movie casts with members that did not get along with each other, so to see ones that do makes it even more heartwarming, especially inBetter Call Saul’s casesinceBreaking Badgave off the same vibes, as evidenced by Bryan Cranston’s strong friendship with Aaron Paul.
It also reflects on how good the acting on the show was. To see that Odenkirk and Seehorn got along with Fabian as well as they did, despite the fact that both Jimmy and Kim abhorred Howard to the point where they conspired to ruin his reputation (which wound up leading to his tragic murder), shows how committed everyone was to their roles. It also can come off assurreal to see pictures of Fabianand Tony Dalton, who played Howard’s murderer, Lalo Salamanca, smiling together, but it shows truly how connected everyone was and how committed they were to the roles they played.
Vince Gilligan may ormay not continue theBreaking Baduniversegoing forward, but he not only created two of the most beloved television dramas ever, but he also seemed to create shows with casts who developed a strong rapport with one another. That definitely reflects on him as showrunner to value how crucial it is to have actors develop friendships with each other while working together. On-set tension can create problems, so avoiding that issue entirely in 14 years is very impressive.
