Ever since it was revealed in 2021, the upcoming mysterious PS5 projectAbandonedhas attracted a lot of attention. However, the apparent lack of any progress or even updates seems to have begun to wear on fans. Now,Abandoneddeveloper Blue Box Game Studios has announced that their official YouTube account has been hacked, which has unleashed a storm of new problems for the title.

Abandonedwas announced in a PlayStation blog post back in April 2021, where gamers quickly assumed it was connected to the long-dormant Silent Hill franchise or a new Hideo Kojima project. Even thedeveloper ofAbandonedrefuting the rumorsdidn’t stop discussions of what the game might be. Blue Box Game Studios' secrecy concerning the title doesn’t seem to have helped matters.

Blue Box Game Studios announced recently over Twitter that their official YouTube account has been hacked, and the hackers have seemingly sent out emails concerning the game’s preorders. The developer made it clear thatAbandonedpreorders are not currently available and fans should not open these emails or transfer funds. Combined with theconstant delays ofAbandoned, this news appears to have left a number of fans frustrated with Blue Box Game studios.

Apparently,Abandonedis an indie horror action game focusing on a young man who awakens in a strange forest and must find a way to survive. This may not sound particularly noteworthy, but a series of cryptic tweets mixed with the fact that it’s being produced by a small studio with a long history of canceled games led toAbandonedgetting a lot of attention. Although many did believe thatAbandoned was a cover for a newSilent Hillor Kojima title, at least one fan has now concluded that the game is likely a scam. Twitter user WOOLLEY GAMER, host of the Worldwide Company Of Gamers' Podcast, replied to the tweet with Screenshots of DMs revealing that he had been a QA tester forAbandoned –and he was quitting after the hack because he’d lost faith in the project.

According to WOOLLEY GAMER, some kind of odd crypto video was uploaded to Blue Box Game Studios' YouTube channel, leading to some confusion in the chat. He went on to question if anyone there had actually seen anything fromAbandonedother than “brick walls in a dark room,” which were shown off in early screenshots. The answer was a solid no, leading WOOLLEY GAMER to state that he no longer wanted any part inthe development ofAbandoned. Although he wished the developer his best, he also heavily implied that he suspectedAbandonedwas a scam. As of writing, the Blue Box Game Studios YouTube channel appears to have been emptied of all content.
