Wild Heartsobviously has a lot in common with theMonster Hunterseries. Both games are action RPGs centered around fighting bosses. Specifically, this game has a lot in common with the most recent entry in Capcom’s franchise,Monster Hunter Rise.

BothWild Heartsand that game have a Japanese aesthetic to everything from the character designs to the weapons. Yes,Wild Heartscertainly borrows a lot, but it also introduces some new twists to the hunting formula. This game, unfortunately, doesn’t fix some thingsMonster Hunterfans have been longing for. MaybeWild Heartscan rectify these mistakes in a few patches to make itself more accessible.

8Fix The Co-Op Count

Monster Hunterplayers are used to being able to group up with three other peoplein co-op teamsof four.Wild Hearts, unfortunately, only has a max of three players. This can make some of the boss fights with the Kemono a bit off-balanced at times depending on the skill level of the players chosen. It would be great to see the developers boost the multiplayer by one to match the modernMonster Hunterlevels. Going beyond that would be even better with teams of five, or even six.

7Add Difficulties

Thesetypes of action RPGsare fun to play with friends or random people online. They are experiences, and they are also easier with other people working together. For those that feel too intimated to group up online, or lack a good connection, there should be an option to ease the experience for them.

Wild Heartsshould add difficulty levels for players who want to go solo offline. If players jump online, then things should go to the standard challenge. The developers could alternatively create HUBs for the different difficulty levels too.

6Add Infinite Continues

There are two ways players will be able to hunt Kemono down in the game: Story missions with no time limit or specific quests with a time limit. However, both of these challenges have the same restrictions on lives.

If players fall in battle and cannot be revived, one life will be taken away from the hunt. If all lives are lost, the hunt is then forfeit. It seems like a cheap mechanic that should be tossed out, or developers could at least give players more lives. The more ways theycan assist players, the better.

5Add An Enemy Health Bar

At times, developers seem to be allergic to the idea of giving their giant boss-like monsters health bars.Wild Heartsdoes an admirable job showing when a Kemono is in a weakened state. When they are low on health, they will retreat with a limp.

They seem to get a second or third wind once they make it to a new zone though, so sometimes these wounded walks are more like tricks. Would it be so terrible to give players a health bar if they wanted it in the options?

4Unlock All Weapons From The Start

This game features a wide array of weapons and they all have multiple functions. The standard katana, for example, can be transformed into a whip for an altered state of power. Players can also try out the Nodachi, Bow, Bladed Wagasa, andthe Maul.

There are three more weapon types to craft, but they are locked behind story missions. It’s odd to restrict players in this way, which is unlikeMonster Hunterand other action RPGs of this ilk. All weapon types should be unlocked from the start.

3Needs A Photo Mode

The graphics are a huge problem inWild Heartsas they look rough. There is an option in the menu to turn off the motion blur, but even if players do that, the action still looks a bit hazy. If the game could maintain a steady frame rate to make the graphics look better, that would be great.

However, the bigger want is access to a photo mode. Understandably this would be hard to have online, but solo players should get the option as capturing cool moments inan action RPGis half of the fun for some.

2Select Save Slots

Players get access to three save slots when they boot up their game. However, once a profile is created, players cannot swap between profiles. Those who are used to dealing with glitches and crashes in games might like to keep backups for emergencies.

No one wants to get dozens of hours into a playthrough only to see it crash and corrupt the data. That’s why the developers should allow players to choose where they save. Having more save options is a mustfor an RPGof any kind.

1Speed Up Skinning

This one is only a minor annoyance in the game. After players slay small prey in the wild, they have to skin it. The animation is automatic thankfully, but it still takes time. There are tons of other materials to collect in the game, like the buds from healing plants. There is no picking animation for plants like that though, so getting a slowed-down process for carving monsters seems silly.

It is more realistic in a way, but this is an action RPG where time is everything. Who cares about realism? The developers should make the skinning process as fast as picking up plants.Summoning Karakuri couldalso be faster, so maybe the developers could add combo shortcuts.
