Villains in video gamesare just as important as the heroes that the player usually controls. If a game doesn’thave a decent villainthat is constantly attempting to take over the world or do bad things, then the story of the title can feel a little empty.

With franchises likeFar CryandAssassin’s Creedunder the developer’s belt there are plenty of brilliant villains to choose from. Out of all thevillains made by Ubisoftthese couple of baddies are by far the best out of all of them.
8Umbra (Child Of Light)
As the Queen of Night who is also known as the Dark Queen, Umbra is the main villain of the platforming role-playing gameChild of Light. Throughout the game she is seen as a Tyrant due to the way she rules her kingdom using fear to make her subjects do as she says. As well as being incredibly powerful due to stealing the sun, moon, and stars.
She is shown to be anincredibly lethal womanas she even attempts to poison the main character of the game, Aurora, before she has even been born. This is because she holds a grudge as Umbra’s mother was banished by Aurora’s mother. Although Aurora doesn’t know about this Umbra continues to attempt to kill her.

7Mr Dark (Rayman)
Raymanis another great franchise developed and published by Ubisoft that has attracted a devout audience over the years, and therefore a villain that has seemed to always come back is Mr Dark. This infamous shape-shifting villain has been seen throughout the series and is consideredthe arch-nemesisof Rayman himself.
There are no redeeming factors to Mr Dark as each game he has been seen causing one issue or another usually with him kidnapping someone such as Betilla the Fairy in the originalRaymantitle. Besides this, he has been an interesting foe to fight especially due to his countless transformations that truly show his power.

6Deimos (Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey)
Assassin’s Creedhas been known for creating incredible stories throughout the franchise that has been especially true for the likes ofAssassin’s Creed: Odyssey. Deimos is one of the main antagonists of the title that players will butt heads with constantly throughout the game.

Deimos is shown to be a weapon of destruction used by the Cult of Kosmos to do their bidding. It is found out that they are the sibling of the main protagonist and therefore players may find themselves sympathetic to this now incredibly violent person. In the end, players may finally be able to put Deimos on the right path though throughout the game this seems impossible.
5Faith Seed (Far Cry 5)
Arguably, the entirety of the Seed family deserves to be mentioned, though out of all the heads of the family, Faith Seed is by far one of the most interesting to encounter. Unlike the brothers, Faith isn’t actually related to Joseph Seed though she fits perfectly into the family.
While shemay appear friendly at first, through her use of the hallucinogenic drug known as Bliss, she is able to manipulate those around her to do as she wishes. This once childlike personality she displays to the player becomes cruel as the player refuses to do as she asks. This shows an even darker side to Faith as her lethality is finally shown.

4Douglas Shetland (Splinter Cell)
Splinter Cellis another much-loved franchise from Ubisoft. There has been plenty of captivating villains that Sam Fisher has encountered throughout the series but none of them will stick with players as much as Sam’s long-time friend Douglas Shetland.
Due to being old friends, hunting down Douglas feels incredibly personal to the player, especially as both Shetland and Fisher share similar goals on wanting to help their country. The only issue once again is how Douglas Shetland is planning on doing that. Douglas is shown to be incredibly corrupt as well as increasing tensions between countries which in the end causes the player to have to eliminate him.

3Claudia Wolf (Silent Hill 3)
Being raised as a member of The Order, which is the cult that resides in Silent Hill, may be a reason why Claudia Wolf grew up the way she did, and it may explain some of her actions. However, although brainwashed into believing the things she does about purifying the world, that doesn’t stop the acts that she commits inSilent Hill 3from creeping out the player.

InSilent Hill 3, Claudia becomes the high priestess of the Order which allows her to attempt to succeed where Dahlia in the originalSilent Hillfailed. Trying to create love and affection in the world through pain and sacrifice makes Claudia quite the obvious villain; though many players may respect her for believing she couldshoulder the burdenof creating such a world.
2Haytham Kenway (Assassin’s Creed 3)
Haytham is another intriguing villain that Ubisoft created especially due to the conflict between himself and the main character, Conner, due to him being Conner’s father. When comparing Haytham to other villains on the list, many players mayhave some sympathyfor the leader of the American Templars especially due to how differently he conducts himself to the past ruthless options of the franchise.
Although Haytham may appear calm and precise, he is still a Templar that opposes the goals of Conner and therefore the Assassin’s. This leads him to attempt to kill his own son in a hope to avoid the methods Conner wishes to use to bring forth peace.

1Vaas Montenegro (Far Cry 3)
As already seen with Faith Seed,Far Cryhas itself an assortment of amazing villains that Ubisoft has put so much attention and thought into creating. This makes Vaas fromFar Cry 3one of the greatest Ubisoft villains out of all of them.
Vaas is so loved by theFar Crycommunity that many players even prefer him over the actual main villain ofFar Cry 3. From the beginning of the game, Vaas hooks the player in through how erratic he is, from toying with the main character, Jason, tohis horrid actionsthroughout the title proving himself to be quite the frightening pirate.
