Having a solid tactic is half the battle in Pro Clubs, and players can completely build their players and team around a tactic that symbolizes how they wish to play. Here are some more highly effective tactics to choose from, with tactics available for all types of playstyles and players.
1Wing Play
Favors Wingers Who Can Dribble And Shoot
If players of Pro Clubs use wingers as their star players in their team, the wing-play tactic is the tactic for them. This tactic looks to get the wingers time on the ball, but more importantly, space. Players who are not on the wing will have to settle for being team players rather than star players, so keep that in mind.
Game Plan
The other players should look to either pass the ball out wide quickly, look to pass the ball in behind the opposition defense or draw defenders away from the wingers to allow the wingers' space to take on a defender and get a shot off. Strikers may find themselves in space for a cutback if the wingers get an abundance of defenders attempting to stop them, so the wingers should stay alert to open teammates.
2Tiki Taka
Quick Passing & Possession
A tactic popularizedby legendary manager Pep Guardiolawhen he was head coach at FC Barcelona and now at Manchester City, Tiki Taka is one of the most famous tactics in world football. For this tactic, players need to look to pass first, moving the ball quickly between teammates and not letting the opponents have much possession of the ball. Players need to stay disciplined and not break their style of play for Tiki Taka to work most effectively, as it is a very team-orientated tactic that requires input from every corner of the pitch.
For this tactic,players should make a custom tacticwith a balanced defensive style and a possession-based offense, along with a relatively narrow team width as players will be closer to each other, allowing for shorter and quicker passing. This tactic can use any formation with 4 defenders. However, most narrow formations such as 4-1-2-1-2 (2), 4-2-3-1, or any of the 4-3-3 variations will work the best. Players should avoid 5-back formations for Tiki Taka, as 5-backs are more suited to counter-attacking or defensive teams.
3Vertical Counter Attack
Long Passing & Defensive Stability
A tactic that is more practical than fun to play, the Vertical Counter Attack looks to utilize fast wingers, midfielders with high long passing stats, and tall strikers. This tactic can be extremely rewarding, with heading and volleys being rather overpowered inEA Sports FC 24. Players can set wingers free with a long pass over the opposition’s defense, and with a pinpoint cross, the tall striker will be able to rack up their goal tally with ease.
Formationswith 5 defenders make the most sensefor this tactic, as players will be safe at the back while also giving the wingers and striker space to get in behind from a long ball. 4 defender formations can work, however, it is vital that there is a CDM to help out defensively and help spring a counter-attack. Once winning the ball from the opposition, players on the wings must start running down the wing for this tactic to work most effectively, and the midfielder passing the ball needs to use their mini-map to spot runs. The striker also must stay alert, making sure they beat their defensive man to the box to win a header. A huge tip is to try early crosses into the box, as they will have more curve, power, and will be tougher for the defender to win due to the momentum of the cross.
4Gegenpress
High Pressing & Quick Attacks
The Gegenpress is a German football tactic that is based on winning the ball from the opposition as high up the pitch as possible and as quickly as possible. Players must be willing to chase down the opposition while also being comfortable with a high defensive line, so it is vital that the team has many fast players with lots of stamina.
Any formation should work with Gegenpress. However,most teams will opt for a 4 defender formation, as the team will have more players further up the pitch to increase the chances of getting the ball back in an advanced position. Players need to be ruthless to make the most of their chances, with precise passing, clinical finishing, and controlled play in high-pressure situations. The forward runs chance creation setting helps with this, as there will be lots of support once players win the ball back.
5Park The Bus
Defensive Focus
The famous tactic that is often scrutinized for being too defensive, parking the bus is a tactic that relies on pure defensive discipline. Attackers will need to be able to play alone, with there being very little help as most players will stay back for attacks. This could favor attackers who enjoy doing skills and dribbling past multiple players, so that is something to keep in mind when looking at potential tactics.
Formation-wise, it is best to have a 5 defender formation, with one or two strikers, depending on whether players are happy with leaving only 1 player up front, or if they want a striker duo that will never return on defense. Havingattackers with pace is also a vital tip, as players will have to latch onto any loose balls, so having enough pace to catch the ball or get past a defender is key. Alternatively, players could opt to have a tall striker next to a small and fast striker, so that the tall striker can win any headers by either passing the ball to the small striker or getting in the box to score aerially.
6Long Ball
Utilizing Tall Players
While playing long passes in 2024 is probably not the go-to tactic for managers in real life, it is most definitely the best tactic for Pro Clubs, as long as the players are created specially to thrive in this tactic. Players' Pro Clubs team must have a tall striker and preferably a tall midfielder for this tactic to work, as the ball will often be crossed into the box by wingers, or launched up the field by the goalkeeper.
It is therefore paramount that the team has tall players who can score headers and win aerial duels against other players. Granted, a tactic relying on long balls isn’t exactly pretty, but it is very effective. The wingers in this tactic should look to hug the touchline and be ready to run in behind and get an early cross into the box. Early crosses, for some reason, seem to give the striker extra separation from the defender to score, so the wingers will need to whip the ball in early.
