Inthe improvedARK: Survival Ascended, the Argentavis is a bird that many players prefer to use as a flying mount. Not only is it a predator who is very powerful, but it is also a great creature to have to travel around more easily. However, taming this beast is one of the more difficult things to do.

Although this bird is quite troublesome to tame, there is one method that will make it a breeze to catch, even for beginners: setting up a trap. The resources needed to create this will be quite easy to obtain and will guarantee your chances of catching the Argentavis.

Where to Find Argentavis

Before you may begin building atrap for the Argentavis, you’ll first need to locate where the beast can frequently be found. The creature is often seen around thenorthern hills and cold areasonThe Islandmap, such as:

When coming across an Argentavis in one of these areas, you’ll obviously want to first build your trap before approaching them. Once you have built the trap, however, you can just bring them to it by getting their attention and leading them towards the trap. Due to their aggressive nature, they will follow close behind you all the way to your trap.

Now that you’re aware of where you can find an Argentavis to tame, you’ll need to build yourself asimple trapto catch the giant bird that requires materials evenbeginners can scrounge up. To start, you’ll need to gather all the following items:

Start by placing aStone Foundationon the ground. You’ll want to lower it as close to the ground as possible so it’s easy for your character to run across it. Then, whip out one of your roofs and switch it over to aStone Ramp. Place the Stone Rampverticallygoing up away from you. Then, addanother rampgoing up, directly attached to the previous one.

Now, in between the two Stone Ramps, scroll to Stone Wall and chooseStone Double Doorway. Place it here, and then put two additional Stone Double Doorways on theleft sideof the ground and then two more on theright side.

Then, go back to the Stone Roof and choose aStone Ramp. Place it in between the two Stone Double Doorways in themiddle, with the ramp going upwards towards you. Finally, at the very front of the trap, place aStone Short Doorwayfrom the Stone Wall, which is where your character will enter.

Finally, after completing the trap, approach a nearby Argentavis to get it aggravated, prompting it to want to attack you and follow you. Then, run to the trap, enter through the doorway, andstop at the top of the ramp. Wait until the Argentavis is successfully stuck inside. Then, to tame it, use sometranquilizersin aweapon like a crossbowto knock it out. Give it some of the following food, whichever one you have available, and place it in the Argentavis' inventory:

Keep track of its taming progress, and once it is fully tamed, you can place anArgentavis Saddleon it. To get it out of the trap, after putting the saddle on, jump on and fly the bird to thetopof the trap and thenlook downto wiggle the bird out. It might take a few tries, but as long as you keep pushing forward, the Argentavis will eventually break free.
