Bauhutte, a Japanese retailer that has been known to work on video game-related furniture, has gone one step further by allowing players to purchase a gaming bed. While there’s surely potential customers out there that would pay good money for Bauhutte’s crazy new invention, it can’t help but feel like a hilarious evolution of the gaming chair that will no doubt become awidespread joke online.

The bed itself seemingly comes together through the buyer acquiring several pieces of furniture, including a desk at the occupant’s feet for their monitor, a bedside table above their head for remotes, a bean bag used to prop themselves up for a prime playing angle, and a desk that can be brought across for accessible keyboard access. Funniest of all, it also seems to include both a handy snack cart and a shelf to storeMonster energy drinks, meaning players don’t have to get up and go to the kitchen mid-game.
Each of these different items are sold separately, with the bundle all together costing a whopping ¥113,250, which equates to around $1,048. Evidently, it’s a fairly expensive piece of furniture, however, it seems more likely that players who do wish to look into Bauhutte’s creation will want to purchase a few of its individual pieces rather than the entire bundle. As with mostvideo game accessoriesor setups though, the hefty price tag is not a surprise.
In truth, this looks like a really fun bit of gaming kit and there are surely some players who will enjoy the luxury of being able to play video games from a more relaxed viewpoint. With gaming chairs often being targeted towardsPC playerswho sit hunched over a desk while playing their favorite games, a bed would perhaps allow for an even more laid back and relaxing way for those players to avoid the discomfort of long gaming sessions. Whether it will catch on in a similar way to how gaming chairs did seems fairly unlikely, however, there is sure to be a very niche range of consumers that will benefit from Bauhutte’s out of the box idea.
