Battlefield 2042Season 5, titled New Dawn, has been revealed by Electronic Arts and EA DICE. The new season of the online multiplayer game will see the addition of a new map named Reclaimed toBattlefield 2042, based around an abandoned Czechia industrial facility that’s being retaken by nature. Other content confirmed forBattlefield 2042includes several new weapons, new gadgets, and some substantial quality-of-life improvements. That’s all in addition to the new Season 5 battle pass content, too.
WhileBattlefield 2042had a rocky launch when it arrived in late 2021, EA DICE has done substantial work on the game since. Four seasons of content have since been delivered. All ofBattlefield 2042’s launch maps have been reworked, the Class system was brought back in Season 3, and a significant number of maps, weapons, vehicles, and more have been added that can be unlocked simply by playing. TheBattlefield 2042of today is completely different from when it launched, and EA DICE continues that effort with Season 5.

The largest addition ofSeason 5 forBattlefield 2042is the game’s new wintry map, Reclaimed. Players will travel to the Czechian industrial facility and battle over a secret train route. Locations within Reclaimed include the Crash Site, a derailed train where vehicular combat reigns, Landing Zone, which focuses on close-quarters combat, Abandoned Turbine, Military Warehouse, Silos, and Bunker, a central room where intense up-close battles will take place.
Reclaimed isn’t the only new addition toBattlefield 2042, though. Three new weapons, the XCE Bar, GEW-46, and BFP.50, will also be added in Season 5. The GEW-46 is especially exciting since it’s inspired by afan-favorite gun fromBattlefield 4. New gadgets are also in the works, with the Spring Grenade, Anti-Tank Grenade, and Mini Grenade planned for this season.
Planned quality-of-life changes include a rework of the Hourglass map, arriving later in Season 5, and reworks of vehicle loadouts and vault weapons. But the biggest quality-of-life improvement is the addition of the Squad Management System. The SMS provides an interface allowingBattlefield 2042players to join specific squads or to create new ones while passing on squad leadership.
All this and more will be arriving inBattlefield 2042Season 5: New Dawn. Expect EA DICE to share more information about Season 5, its content, and planned changes in the days and weeks to come. As withpreviousBattlefield 2042seasons, all gameplay-affecting content in Season 5 will be free and earned through progression.
