Baldur’s Gate 3’s Collector’s Editions are going for at least five times their base retail price of $270 on eBay. Being such a hotly anticipated game, they have already sold out via the normal means. Likewise, these scalped copies are actually selling due to the high demand for them, and the willingness for some hardcore gamers to get their hands on such a packed edition by almost any means. Not that those fans can be blamed, since the Collector’s Edition comes with a lot of bonus material on top of such a large game.
The Collection’s Edition ofBaldur’s Gate 3includes a digital copy of the game, a Mind Flayer statue just under a foot tall, a thick hardcover art book, a keychain,Dungeons & Dragonscharacter sheets, and a cloth map of Faerun, the game’s setting. Furthermore, aMagic: The Gatheringbooster pack and some Digital Deluxe Edition DLC is included, the latter containing exclusive skins and items alongside a downloadable soundtrack.
Scalping has been a recurring problem for the video game industry for the longest time, especially for highly anticipated games and hardware. It’s usually a factor in why some popular releases tend to sell out quickly, with many culprits attempting to make some quick bank by reselling copies for much higher than they initially retailed for. The practice remains mostly legal in the United States, with only fifteen states deeming it a misdemeanor punishable by fines or even up to a year in prison.
Baldur’s Gate 3is available to play on PC, with the PlayStation 5 version due out on August 04, 2025, and the Xbox Series X/S version arriving at an unspecified time.
