Summary
By the time players reach the third act ofBaldur’s Gate 3, they’re familiar with the difference between the main quests, which involve the dominant storyline of the Absolute and the personal quests of their party members, or the side quests, which are connected to the main story but aren’t required to complete before finishing the game.
A lot of theBaldur’s Gate 3quests that start in Act 1 lead through Act 2 and finally conclude in Act 3, and their ultimate outcomes depend on the previous decisions made by the protagonist. Some of these quests won’t be available depending on how players have progressed through the story up until this point, but there’s always an opportunity to roll a new Tav/Durge and start again.

5The Cats Of Sorcerer’s Sundries
Help Find A Home For Three Strange Cats
A lot is going on in this part of town, soit’s easy to miss the three catswandering through the alleyways near Sorcerer’s Sundries. This quest only triggers if players have encountered Derryth Bonecloak in the Underdark and that encounter with her resulted in the death of her husband. There are other ways to get him out of the picture, however, so make sure to visit Derryth’s shop in Baldur’s Gate to find out.
These three cats include a dramatic ginger named Malta, a cheeky tuxedo Barsik who’s devoted to Sharess, and Myshka, a white cat who only speaks a rare and specific cat dialect. If players pass a dice roll, it’s revealed that he’s looking for his mother. All of these cats need a home, and Derryth is happy to give them one now that her husband is gone.
4Find Mystic Carrion’s Servant
Encounter Poltergeists & Other Hilarious Oddities
It’s not mandatory to finish the Free The Artist quest to meet or havedealings with the Mummy Lordwho goes by the name Mystic Carrion. Oskar Fevras sends players to the mansion as part of the quest to free the Janneth Estate from poltergeists, but players can also sneak into the basement or use a Perception check to find the hidden front door.
Mystic Carrion is a Mummy Lord, so he’s like Cazador, with all the trappings that include a luxurious home and undead minions, except that he’s a mummy. It turns out that some of his servants have gone missing, and he asks Tav to find them. There’s some really funny dialogue in this quest since the wayward minions have some attitude and are sympathetic characters.
3Avenge The Hag Survivors
Track Down A Nasty Hag That’s Made A Home In The Lower City
This is another side-quest that starts in Act 1 and continues in Act 3, at least depending on how each player handled it. If the protagonist decides to help Mayrina and her husband, they’ll appear again in Act 3, and players can either read a notice they put up to find the group or just stumble upon them while exploring abandoned houses in Baldur’s Gate.
The Hag warned players that killing her wouldn’t work, and she was right, but this is how players can put her in the ground for good, so to speak. Tracking down the Hagand helping her victimsis more than just hack and slash, involving issues like removing curses or seeing-through disguises. Once players find the location of Ethel’s lair, the characters have a nice excuse to visit the Blushing Mermaid and make some friends.
2Find The Missing Letters
Track Down The Carrier Pigeon Murderer, & Gale’s Long-Time Friend
Another essential quest for cat people, this is also a great side quest for those that have Gale in their party or are playingthe Wizard of Waterdeepas one of the Origin characters. It starts when players walk into Sword Coast Couriers, a name some players might recognize from the body of an unlucky messenger in Act 1. If those letters have been picked up, they can be returned here.
The office is located in Rivington, across the street from the Open Hand Temple, and although Postmaster Danzo is grateful that players returned a few letters, some are still missing and he asks them to investigate. CastSpeak with Animals, then go upstairs and talk to the pigeons, who also work for the courier, and have had some bad luck with the adjacent rooftop lately.
1Find The Stern Librarian Ffion
A Rather Lewd Reward Awaits This Bloody Mystery
There are a few quests that intersect at locations in Wyrm’s Crossing and Find the Stern Librarian is one of them. It’s connected to the Solve The Open Hand Temple Murders quest and the main quest that allows entry into the Temple of Bhaal in the sewers beneath the city.
Finding Ffion is useful if players are looking for her son Dolor. But, if players speak to Mamzellin Sharess' Caress, they will discover Ffion had a lucrative side gig at every Baldurian’s favorite brothel. Inform Manzell of her passing and she’ll reward them with a discount for a night with the famous Drow twins.
