When it comes toTurning Red’s protagonist Meilin, Pixar did a lot of the heavy lifting for washue due to the character’s red panda form. The main focus of the movie sees Meilin struggling to contain the panda and deciding whether or not she wants to keep it, meaning that it gets plenty of screentime. Fortunately, it looks just as cute as anAnimal Crossingcharacter, as the Villager maintains Meilin’s smile and personality while shrinking the panda down a bit. Meilin’s three friends were also turned into Villagers, and the art can be seenhere.
The artist chose perfect Villager types to represent the rest of Meilin’s friend group, with Miriam suiting the Horse role perfectly. Her face is captured well in the Horse design, with freckles seen alongside her signature beanie and hair. A neat touch sees the Horse version of Miriam having a tale that matches her hairstyle, establishing a focused aesthetic. Priya’s design is incredibly accurate as well, with the straight-faced character and 4 Town lover taking the form of a disinterestedWolf Villager. Her clothing and glasses are a perfect fit, with theAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsfan also giving her a special background that reflects her attitude in the film.
However, most commenters seem enamored with Abby’s Villager form, and it is easy to see why. Not only is her aggressive face captured on the Villager, but she takes the form of a Hamster - a fitting choice given her shortness in the film. Redditor bbeekk even assigned theTurning RedVillagers personalities, with Meilin getting normal, Miriam being sisterly, Priya acting snooty, and Abby boasting a peppy attitude. With over 12,000 upvotes so far, there is plenty of love for this batch ofAnimal Crossing: New Horizonscreations.
With so manypeople lovingTurning Red,Animal Crossing: New Horizonstributes make sense. Unsurprisingly, washue has knocked it out of the park yet again, and their art deserves all the love that it is getting.
