Animal Crossing: New Horizonshas received both its final free update, the 2.0 Update, and Happy Home Paradise DLC. These expansions added a variety of new options for customization and home decor into the game, and some players are already taking full advantage of this. One creativeAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsplayer recently shared a video of themself putting together a detailed building based on aDungeons and Dragons-style tavern.

TikTokker AshleyRoboto was inspired to make her very own tavern by a line of dialogue from Vic, a cranky bullvillager that can be encountered inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons. Vic requested a home base for “various adventures” and the player decided to indulge him. As Vic’s outfit, name, and residence are all inspired by the notoriously warlike and adventurous Vikings, it seems quite fitting that he inspired aDungeons and Dragons-style building.

AshleyRoboto began by selecting the theme she wanted and placing the building in the perfect location–the middle of the woods. She created the outside with a certain gothic ambiance and usedAnimal Crossing’s outdoor customization optionsto surround it with signposts, stone roads, and even a small cave to capture the right atmosphere. Inside, she laid down a wood floor and added some barrels, pillars, and wooden chairs and tables for potential patrons. She also added some Log Benches for an especially rustic feel.

The player went on to create a custom design for the bottle labels modeled after an eye before she placed bottles on many surfaces, accompanied by candles to enhance the tavern-like atmosphere. She also created custom designs for a small quest board advertising potential rewards to adventurers, a staple throughout thehistory ofDungeons and Dragons. One of the final touches was a dark wood music box to provide haunting but welcoming background music. Upstairs, she added several rooms filled with beds and animal-hide rugs ideal for being rented by adventurers.

At the end of the video, there were several shots of Vic in his new home. The armor-clad bull fits in quite well with his new place, which makes his antique dress sense look right at home. The bottles and candlelight give the tavern a very lived-in and even homey appearance, especially with Vic standing behind the bar, ready to take orders.Taverns are a classic element of medieval fantasyand can be inserted in just about any fantasy setting, apparently including the child-friendly world ofAnimal Crossing: New Horizons.
