Nintendo has released yet another big update for its hit life simulation gameAnimal Crossing: New Horizons.Summer Update - Wave 1is available for Nintendo Switch owners to download now, giving fans plenty more to do on their island.

The big new addition toAnimal Crossing: New Horizonswith Summer Update - Wave 1 is the ability to swim. After purchasing a wet suit, either with bells from Nook’s Cranny or using Nook Miles,New Horizonsplayers can start swimming in the ocean surrounding their island.Animal Crossing: New Horizonsplayers can dive underwater as well, where they can find sea creatures that can then be donated to Blathers' museum or sold for cash.

Summer Update - Wave 1 also adds new visitor encounters forAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsplayers to experience. The most notable is the addition of Pascal, an otter who purchases scallops from players in exchange for Mermaid-themed DIY recipes. However, there is also anew Gulliver encounteradded toNew Horizonsas well, which sees the shipwrecked bird with some brand new clothes and a new task for players to complete.

TheAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsupdate also adds new items that players can purchase withNook Miles, giving Nook Miles more purpose than they had previously. Players will also find some brand new summer items in the shops, but they’ll need to act fast if they want them because they will only be available for a limited time.

The addition of swimming, diving, and sea creatures should greatly expand whatAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsplayers can do in the game. It adds a completely new category to theCritterpedia, meaning players that have somehow already caught all of the bugs and fish finally have something new to do occupy their time.

Looking ahead, the next big update forAnimal Crossing: New Horizonswill come in August, entitled Summer Update - Wave 2. What it will entail exactly remains to be seen, but fans should find out within the next few weeks.
