Bethesda Softworks officially announcedThe Elder Scrolls 6with a teaser trailer on July 09, 2025. However, there has been precious little new information since that announcement, and nothing indicates that the game will be here any time soon. WithBethesda focused onStarfieldand no release date on the horizon, the nextElder Scrollsgame seems depressingly far off. Optimistic estimates suggest that the highly-anticipated sequel toSkyrimmight not arrive until sometime in 2026 or 2027.
That’s a long way off, and the continued wait will be frustrating for manyElder Scrollsfans. Fortunately, plenty of other big games are coming down the industry pipeline, many of which are likely to be released before anyone gets their hands onThe Elder Scrolls 6. However, whether that gives fans something else to look forward to or reminds them how long they must wait for a newElder Scrollsis a matter of opinion.

If the Elder Scrolls 6 Releases After 2025
During a November 2021 interview on IGN Unfiltered, Todd Howard explained that fans should expect a gap of around15 years betweenElder Scrollsgames. He also noted that game’s on the scale of Skyrim typically take Bethesda around four to five years to develop. This is why some predictThe Elder Scrolls 6won’t launch until 2026 at the absolute earliest. That means any game launching in the next two years has a good chance of making it out the door whileTES6is still putting on its shoes.
While there will no doubt be many big games coming in 2024 and 2025, most don’t have public release windows yet. Exceptions include highly anticipated games like Spider’sGreedFall 2, theYakuzaspin-offLike a Dragon 8, andInstinction, an FPS inspired by the legendaryDino Crisisseries. While 2025 is a long way off, all three titles will most likely come out well beforeThe Elder Scrolls 6.
