Mega Man Legendsis an outlier in the long-running franchise. Instead of a side-scrolling action game, the twoLegendsgames aresemi-open-world action RPGs.They are filled with side quests, secrets, and dynamic moments that change depending on what players do in the world.

To show just how much there is in the world, the following list highlights the coolest things most players miss in the firstMega Man Legends. There is so much to do and see, many will be shocked to know such a dynamic world existed on theoriginal PlayStation. It’s truly a shame there hasn’t been a new entry in the series.

10Karma System

On consoles, players weren’t used to karma mechanicsuntil the PS3 and Xbox 360.Mega Man Legendsincluded one in a smart and subtle way. If the player does bad things in the world, the protagonist’s suit subtly becomes darker and darker.

Adversely, the suit grows lighter as Mega Man enacts more positive change within the world. It does not affect the world in any meaningful way other than the color of the suit.

9Easter Eggs In The Mall

There is a shopping center Mega Man passes through before going into town. There are several stores where players can go inside and explore. Nothing here is actually purchasable, but it is possible to browse the shelves and read what is on sale.

8Playing The Game Shows

In the TV station in Uptown, there are several game shows you can play for cash prizes. These are all small minigames, including kicking a ball to hit a dog chasing a man and racing on your Jet Skates. To do the latter, you need to actually obtain the Jet Skates, which are also optional. To get these, you have to find the two separate parts in the Clozer and Jynn sub gates.

7Why Roll Is Called Roll

Mega Man’s sidekick is Roll. This is a weird name, but it makes more sense if players understand Mega Man’s original name in Japan. In his homeland, the main character is named Rockman.Mega Man Legendsis calledRockman Dashin Japan.

With this in mind, it makes sense for her to be named Roll. Whoever localized the game felt Roll was a normal name without pairing with Mega Man’s original moniker.

6Kicking The Can In The Bakery

In the mall, there are a bunch of cans lying around. Players can use the kick button to move these towards the bakery. Kick these behind the counter of the bakery for some bonus Zenny and a message about keeping the streets clean.

It’s not exactly kind to kick garbage behind a bakery counter, but none of the townspeople seem to mind. It would have been nicer to kick it into a garbage can.

5Walking In On Roll In The Ship

The ship serves as a small hub for Mega Man to periodically revisit. Players can save their progress and even the area changes. If players walk into Roll’s room, she scolds them for walking in unaccounted.

It’s not actually possible to see her but it is implied that she is perhaps undressed. Mega Man apologizes but upon leaving does the victory pose.

3Bank Robbery Side Quest

There is a side quest later in the game that starts after a TV announcer says a bank robbery is in progress. Mega Man can find the car and destroy it, at which point the player can then return or keep the money.

However, it eventually turns out that this isn’t a bank robbery, but the Servbots were actually just taking out a loan. If the Servbots escape, they open up a restaurant.

2Museum Side Quest

Outside the hospital a museum curator is painting. She says she needs more red, which can be given to her by using lipstick found in the Hip Bone store. She goes to the museum and opens it up, which starts a fairly extensive quest.

Mega Man has to find several items for the museum exhibit. There are eight items in total and getting them unlocks an item required to make the ultimate weapon.

1Shining Laser

The Shining Laser is the most powerful weapon in the game. It can defeat even the final boss in less than ten seconds. Three parts are required to unlock this weapon: the Weapon Plans, X Buster, and the Prism Crystal.

Two of these are unlocked through side quests, and the third is found in the ruins. Once this weapon is made, there is basically no reason to use any other weapon in the game.
